Arriving — Rome
The journey begins in Rome on Day 1. Fly into Fiumicino (FCO); we meet every arrival and transfer you to the group hotel. Ciampino (CIA) also works and is closer to the Appian Way. Rome is served non-stop from almost every major city, so plan to arrive on Day 1 at the latest — and consider arriving a day early. Nobody has ever regretted an extra day in Rome, and it takes the sting out of a long-haul flight before the first start line.
Leaving — Rio de Janeiro
The journey ends after the celebration dinner on the evening of Day 13. Depart from Galeão (GIG) on Day 14 or later; we transfer you to the airport whenever you need. Many people stay on — Rio in March is a good place to stop moving for a few days, and we are happy to help arrange it.
Between the two — the aircraft
Everything in between is on our own aircraft, chartered for the group for the full fourteen days. There are more than twice as many seats as people, so everyone has a row: put the armrests up and lie down if you want to. No check-in queues, no baggage carousels, no connections. Your luggage stays with the aircraft from Rome to Rio, and a physiotherapist works the aisle on every sector.
Visas
Seven wonders, seven countries — and an eighth border you cross without a start line: a technical overnight in Anchorage, in the United States, between China and Mexico. Requirements differ by nationality and several take time, so we begin visa support the day you register and provide invitation letters, itineraries and confirmations for each country. The United States stop needs the most planning — start it at least six months out. Visas remain the responsibility of each traveller, but nobody does this alone.
Insurance
Travel insurance and medical insurance including emergency evacuation are both mandatory, and must cover marathon running. We will send a specification of the minimum cover with your registration pack.
Sixty people will see the seven wonders this way.
