The rose-red city of the Nabataeans
A city carved directly into rose-coloured sandstone by the Nabataeans, lost to the outside world for six hundred years, and rediscovered in 1812. You do not walk up to Petra. You walk through a crack in a mountain and it appears.

Rolling · Packed sand, stone
Start and finish at the visitor centre. The first hour runs through the site before it opens to the public — down the Siq in half-light, past the Treasury, along the Street of Facades — then out into the desert hills above the valley and back. Packed sand, gravel and some stone. Rolling rather than flat, and the quietest 42 kilometres you will ever run.

Day 5
Back into Petra on foot, without a race number: the Monastery for those with legs left, the High Place of Sacrifice, the Royal Tombs. Two nights at the gate, and no flight that evening — the only race day with nowhere else to be.

Sixty people will see the seven wonders this way.
Places are allocated in order of deposit. Finishers of any Runbuk event may reserve before general registration opens.
