The Maya calendar, built in stone
El Castillo is not really a pyramid. It is a calendar: 91 steps on each of four sides plus the top platform makes 365, and twice a year the afternoon sun throws a serpent of shadow down the northern staircase. The Maya built it to be read.

Flat · Jungle road
Flat jungle roads out of Valladolid at dawn, past cenotes and colonial churches, iguanas on the walls, finishing within sight of El Castillo. Warm and humid, but flat and quick, and the last race before Rio.

Day 11
The site itself — El Castillo, the great ball court, the observatory — in rolling groups as runners finish, then a swim in a cenote before the drive to Cancún.

Sixty people will see the seven wonders this way.
Places are allocated in order of deposit. Finishers of any Runbuk event may reserve before general registration opens.
